The presentation begins by outlining the basics that include: types of disasters; preparation; swiftness; accessibility;factuality; and,practice. Preparing your message include: identify potential incidents in your organization;plan messages for different types of incidents; focus on key points the audience will remember; and,practice, practice, practice. Preparing your employees includes: educate them in their role with the media;provide formal media training whereneeded; and, keep them apprised of the "company line". Putting a face on your organization includes: spokesperson should be as high as possible inorganization;PIO - person to coordinate communicationsprocess, especially with media; and,back-ups as needed.
